-Richland Center. Rochester. Fulton. Delong. Kewanna-
Whether you are entering Fulton County on USBR35 from the north or south, you will be welcomed by farm fields and the occasional grazing dairy cow, who, generally takes more interest in the passing biker than you might think. If you’re near Delong, be sure to test out some of the best fried chicken gizzards and livers you’ll find anywhere.
On the other end of the county, make sure you stop at Green Oak Antiques – a true antiques and yard ornamentation destination. If you want to view the works of many Fulton county artists, be sure to take a detour to Kewanna to the studio and gallery of Diane Tesler. When passing through the county seat of Rochester, there are numerous locally owned restaurants offering everything from sandwiches to pasta, seafood, steaks and the best grilled tenderloin around. Ask anyone how to get to the Streamliner, Jarrety’s, Mikey’s, Evergreen or Poblanos.
The Dam Landing offers great food and a great choice of Microbrews as well as views of Lake Manitou (pronounced Man I Taw – the Potawatomi Indian word for “Great Spirit”). Rochester’s Main Street is historically significant both as part of the Potawatomi Trail of Tears as well as the Historic Michigan Road Byway. Be sure to get your Indiana Byway Passport stamped at the Fulton County Chamber of Commerce and take a look at the historical markers placed on the Fulton County Courthouse lawn just across the street from the Chamber.
Great nearby shopping destinations include Flirt, Brooch Boutique and Arnolds Jewelers. Also, be sure not to miss out on Schnabeltier Winery and Cheesery for award winning wine and cheese as well as its summer concert series. You may find Fulton County by accident but we welcome you to, like so many do, stay on purpose.
