-Underwood. Henryville. Memphis. Sellersburg. Clarksville. Jeffersonville-
The southernmost point on US Bicycle Route 35 travels along the Ohio River with views of the Louisville skyline. From this urban enclave north, the terrain transitions to suburban and then to rural settings.
Jeffersonville’s downtown area is full of restaurants. Restaurant Row is a collection of eateries overlooking the Ohio River. Continue and you’ll find RiverStage, Jeffersonville’s floating concert and movie venue. The city’s Spring Street has been energized with small businesses who have found a home. You’ll find coffee shops, eateries, boutiques, and a 125-year-old candy store, Schimpff’s Confectionery and Candy Museum. In addition, you’ll also find nearby the Howard Steamboat Museum, the newly opened Clark County Museum, a farmer’s market on Saturday mornings, and a number of hotels and festivals.
Clarksville’s Lewis & Clark Parkway is home to a retail center anchored by the Green Tree Mall and a number of chain restaurants. You’ll find biking needs at the local bike shop on Lewis & Clark Parkway. Nearby hotels, restaurants, parks, and other retailers will give you a host of options.
Connect to the Ohio River Greenway off USBR35 to extend your trip. The Ohio River Greenway is a multiuse path that will soon be complete. It will connect the three Southern Indiana riverside towns that border Louisville, Kentucky: Jeffersonville, Clarksville and New Albany. Along the Ohio River Greenway is Widow’s Walk ice cream. Just across the street is Ashland Park, which boasts some of Louisville skyline’s best views. Follow the Greenway west to find the Falls of the Ohio State Park. Here – when the river levels are low – you’ll find one of the largest exposed Devonian era fossil beds in the world. Naturalists are sometimes available to help you spot fossils embedded underfoot.
In downtown New Albany, just a few miles west, you’ll find a collection of downtown restaurants that range from Cuban to sushi. It also includes the Carnegie Center for Art & History, a year-round farmer's market, breweries, a winery, and the Culbertson Mansion State Historic Site. The northern part of USBR35 takes you through the rural settings of Sellersburg, Memphis, and Henryville before entering Scott County.
